Introduction
On January 1, 2025, the music world said a sad goodbye to Wayne Osmond, a cherished member of the legendary Osmond Brothers. He passed away at 73 after a major stroke, leaving behind a legacy of music and kindness.
Born in Ogden, Utah, on August 28, 1951, Wayne was the fourth of nine children. His musical talent was clear from an early age; he and his brothers Alan, Merrill, and Jay formed a barbershop quartet in 1958. With their tight harmonies and wholesome image, along with Wayne’s perfect pitch and ability to play multiple instruments, The Osmond Brothers became famous, especially after appearing on The Andy Williams Show in the 1960s.
Wayne married Kathleen White, a former Miss Utah, in 1974. Together, they raised five children in a home built on love and faith. Despite the pressures of fame, Wayne remained a dedicated husband and father, always grounded by his values and commitment to his family.
His life wasn’t without its challenges. In 1997, he was diagnosed with a brain tumor that left him nearly deaf, and he suffered a stroke in 2012 that further affected his health. Through it all, Wayne never lost his smile, his humble nature, or his immense ability to forgive and love unconditionally.
He passed away surrounded by his wife and children. As his brother Merrill Osmond shared, “Wayne was a man of humility, quick to forgive, and someone who loved unconditionally.”
Today, we say farewell, but Wayne’s melodies and spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. Thank you for the music, Wayne.
