Goin' Home To Retire - Merrill Osmond - Beat Magazine

Merrill Osmond, the 71-year-old renowned for his singing and bass-playing with The Osmonds and The Brothers Osmond, recently faced a personal loss with the passing of his 73-year-old brother, Wayne Osmond, in early January.

Merrill, who boasts over 133,000 followers on his verified Facebook page, typically shares messages with his fans on Fridays. However, he unexpectedly posted a peculiar message last Thursday. In this cryptic post, he alluded to “difficult decisions” and the possibility of loved ones never speaking to him again. Although the post didn’t specifically mention his own family, he shared a video with his fans the following day.

In the video, while expressing gratitude for his fans’ support, Merrill also described himself as a “visionary.” He claimed to be able to see his late son, Troy, who passed away in his sleep at 33 in 2018, in heaven.

His initial, unusual post featured a photo of Merrill leaning against a brick wall, symbolizing a difficult situation. He began the message by stating, “My dear friends, This is not my Friday post, but a message that I felt compelled to share with someone who needs to hear it today.”

He continued, “There are times when you are up against the wall and must make difficult decisions. Even if the people you love will never fully understand you or never speak to you again.” Merrill emphasized the importance of these painful moments for personal growth and integrity, asserting that “Standing firm in your truth, despite the potential for alienation, solidifies your identity and strength. Stay strong, you’re loved Merrill.”

The subsequent day, Merrill posted his usual Friday video, discussing various “gifts” from God. He mentioned that some individuals possess the “gift of knowledge” and urged people not to be disheartened by gifts they haven’t received. He then added, “You know, some of my own family members think I’m sort of a wacko at times, because I’m a visionary. I really am a visionary.”
