Wayne Osmond Funeral, Merrill Osmond Pays tribute to Wayne - YouTube

Merrill Osmond is mourning the heartbreaking loss of his brother Wayne, and in the midst of grief, he is preparing to take legal action to protect the Osmond family’s reputation. In a deeply emotional video shared online, Merrill openly thanked fans around the world for their compassion before addressing a growing concern that he can no longer ignore.

Honoring Wayne’s Memory

Merrill spoke with great tenderness as he reflected on the overwhelming support following Wayne’s passing. He mentioned how sharing a tribute of a young musician performing Osmond songs brought him unexpected comfort during this painful time.
“Wayne was the heartbeat of our group,” Merrill expressed. “So many of the melodies people still love were influenced and shaped by his creativity.”

He reminisced about years spent composing music with Wayne and Alan, noting how Wayne was deeply involved in creating signature harmonies and recognizable guitar hooks that became part of the group’s musical identity. “I hope Wayne heard that tribute from heaven,” Merrill said softly.

Preparing a Legal Response

During the message, Merrill also revealed that he is moving forward with a lawsuit. He explained that someone online has consistently spread false information about the band—particularly regarding songwriting credits.

The inaccurate claims suggest that Jay Osmond was a primary songwriter, but Merrill clarified that the writing was primarily done by himself, Wayne, and Alan. While Jay played an important role in rhythms and arrangements, Merrill explained that he never contributed lyrics or structural composition.

“All of this is clearly listed in publishing records,” he said. “There has never been a disagreement among us about who wrote the songs. Even though Jay wasn’t a songwriter, he still receives equal royalties. We remain united as brothers.”

A Message of Love and Togetherness

Merrill concluded his video by encouraging fans to treasure the people in their lives. “Life changes fast. You never know when God will call someone home,” he said.

He also cautioned viewers not to believe online rumors and to seek truth from reliable sources. Despite the legal steps ahead, Merrill emphasized that there is no hostility within the family and past issues have been resolved.

“We are united,” he said. “Let’s move forward with love, continue the music, and honor Wayne’s legacy the way he deserves.”
