In 1993, the media both domestically and internationally buzzed when Michael Jackson – the legendary music icon – launched a program to search for child singers to perform the song “Heal The World” with him. Among hundreds of candidates from all over, the appearance of a Vietnamese girl named Ngọc Linh drew special attention. With her outstanding artistic talent, Ngọc Linh had been active at the Ho Chi Minh City Children’s House since she was just 3 years old and quickly became a familiar face in the child artist community.
Born in 1979, Ngọc Linh possesses a clear voice and an adorable appearance, leaving an unforgettable mark through a series of children’s songs such as “Em Đi Chơi Thuyền” and “Ngày Đầu Tiên Đi Học.” These melodies, associated with the childhood of many generations, helped shape her identity from a very young age.

The memory of the rare moment meeting the “King of Pop” is always one of the most memorable experiences in singer Ngoc Linh’s life. She once emotionally shared with the press: “I got to see Michael Jackson up close, and it felt incredibly happy. The meeting lasted for about 10 minutes before Michael Jackson said goodbye to everyone to prepare for the press conference and the evening show. Shortly after, my friends and I were taken to the press conference area behind the stadium, where Michael Jackson was set to perform.”
Not only did she meet him, but Ngoc Linh also had the honor of directly conversing with her idol. “I was even invited to talk with Michael Jackson. I can’t imagine how happy and proud I was. The first thing he did was shake my hand. Then he asked about Vietnam and if I was excited to participate in the evening show.”
